Story stage goals and stars, explained
Every story stage has one clear goal. Reading it first saves a lot of wandering, and knowing how stars work helps you decide whether to replay a stage or move on.
The five kinds of goal
- Reach the portal. Find a path to the exit. Crates may be in the way, and not every crate needs breaking.
- Collect. Gather a set number of crystals, batteries or key shards scattered through the maze.
- Defeat enemies. Clear every opponent on the board. The counter shows how many are left.
- Survive. Stay in play until the timer runs down.
- Clear the guardians. At the end of a chapter, the counter shows how many slimes are still standing between you and the finish.
The current goal and its progress stay on screen while you play, so a quick glance tells you how close you are.
Up to three stars per stage
Each story stage has three star tasks, and each one you meet earns a star. One of them is usually the stage goal itself. The other two ask for something extra, for example:
- finish within a time limit,
- pick up a number of power-ups along the way,
- use fewer revives than a set number,
- place fewer bubbles than a set number,
- defeat a number of opponents.
The 15 story stages across three chapters hold 45 stars in total.
Why the tasks pull in different directions
A fast clear and a full set of power-ups rarely fit in the same run. Trying for everything at once is a common reason to lose a stage you could otherwise finish. Clearing it first and returning for the remaining stars later is usually easier.
A short routine for any stage
- Read the goal and look for the first crate that opens a path toward it.
- Pick one extra star task to aim for on this run.
- Keep the escape habits from Guide 1. A lost run earns nothing.
A general guide for Boome Slime, which is still in development. It describes the current offline story stages of the full iOS development build. The separate Android 50-stage trial has its own stages. Stage counts and tasks may change before release. This is not a walkthrough or a promise of availability.
