Bubble-maze basics · Guide 7
How to beat the boss: the Coral Warden
The Coral Warden is the boss at the end of chapter 1. It has 10 health, loses 1 every time a bubble blast reaches it, and hurts you only by touching you. The way to beat it is to keep it chasing you around the pillars and leave bubbles in its path: kite and chain.
What the fight looks like
- Arena: a wide maze of pillars and crates, with a 180-second timer.
- Goal: bring its health from 10 to 0 before time runs out.
- Start: it stays still for about two and a half seconds, then starts to follow you.
- Speed: it chases more slowly than you walk, so you can always open a gap.
- Danger: touching it. There are no special attacks to learn, just its body and your own blasts.
Kite and chain, step by step
- Use the first seconds to break a crate or two near you. Crates can sometimes leave a power-up.
- When the Warden starts moving, walk so it follows you along a straight corridor.
- Drop a bubble in the corridor behind you, then turn a corner around a pillar. The pillar is your cover; the boss walks into the line.
- If a second bubble sits in the first one's range, both go off at once: two hits in one moment. The bubble chain guide shows how to line them up.
- Keep looping the same pillars. Ten hits is a lot of loops, so pace yourself against the timer.
There are no safe tiles
No tile in the arena keeps you safe. Staying still is the real mistake: the Warden keeps closing in. Keep moving, keep a pillar between you and it, and before every bubble check that your way out is not on that bubble's line.
Which power-ups help
- Range lets a blast reach the boss from farther away, so you can drop a bubble and still be well clear.
- Speed helps you out-walk the chase and set up the next loop.
- Extra bubble makes two-bubble chains easier.
Power-ups come from broken crates, and not every crate has one.

How long do I have?
180 seconds.
Can I practise this offline?
Yes. The whole story, boss included, plays without internet.
A general guide for Boome Slime, which is still in development. It describes the boss in the current iOS build sent for review. Details can change before and after release.
