Survival mode tips: how to be the last slime standing

Survival in Boome Slime is not a wave mode. It is a four-minute, last-one-standing match on a big arena, against bots, while the safe zone shrinks toward the centre. The tip that matters most: watch the zone, not just the bots. Move toward the centre early and let the zone squeeze the others.

How a Survival match works

The shrinking zone

The safe zone closes in four times during the match, at roughly 0:30, 1:20, 2:10 and 3:00, and each shrink takes 15 to 20 seconds. About twelve seconds before each one, the game shows where the next zone will be. Near the very end the zone disappears completely.

Outside the zone a signal meter drains. Step back inside and it refills; let it reach zero and you are out. So a short trip outside is fine, but a long one is not.

Where to stand

  1. As soon as the next zone appears, start walking toward it. Twelve seconds is less time than it looks on a big arena.
  2. Take the inside lane. Slimes arriving late come in from the edge, often in a hurry and in a straight line, which is the easiest target there is.
  3. Break crates on your way to open a route, but don't stop for a whole row. Every second you stay near the edge is a second the zone gets closer.
  4. Keep a pillar between you and the busiest part of the arena. The same no-safe-tile rule from the boss guide applies: keep moving.

When to place a bubble

Bubbles burst after about three seconds and the usual rules apply: any blast traps you, including your own, and an opponent touching a trapped slime finishes it. In Survival that makes two moments worth a bubble:

Early on, fewer bubbles is often better. The zone does a lot of the work for you.

Playing Duo

Stay close to your partner. If one of you is trapped, the other can touch them to free them, which only works if you are near. If you are knocked out, your partner keeps fighting while you watch, so a Duo round is not over until both of you are out. The trapped-in-a-bubble guide covers rescues in detail.

What the result screen shows

Your final rank, how many slimes you knocked out, and how many seconds you survived. Survival Solo and Survival Duo each have their own leaderboard, and a few achievements reward winning without reviving.

Quick answers

Is Survival a wave mode?

No. It is a last-one-standing match against bots on a big arena with a shrinking safe zone.

How long is a Survival match?

Four minutes. The zone shrinks four times, and near the end it disappears.

What happens outside the zone?

A signal meter drains. It refills when you step back in, and at zero you are out.

How many players are in a match?

Ten slimes: ten solo players, or five teams of two in Duo. Everyone except you, and your partner in Duo, is a bot.
